The 3D Configurator built for Snelbouwloods is a robust cloud-based platform that redefines how steel structures are designed, quoted, and prepared for production. This user-friendly tool digitalizes the entire pre-production phase — eliminating manual work and replacing it with a highly efficient, rule-based workflow.
Fully scalable and future-proof, the configurator supports rapid growth in product range and market demand, while ensuring speed, accuracy, and consistency across all departments — from sales to engineering. Multiple automated export documents — including bill of materials, price quotations, and detailed technical drawings— are generated instantly, reducing errors and significantly shortening turnaround times.

Automated Export Documents
Every configuration automatically generates key documents needed for manufacturing and customer delivery:
- Bill of Materials (BOM) with quantities and specifications
- Price quotations based on selected options and real-time logic
- Technical drawings ready for engineering and client approval
These files are export-ready and formatted to match Snelbouwloods’ internal
systems, eliminating manual formatting and data entry.”

The configurator is fully responsive and cloud-hosted, allowing users to access and use it on mobile devices and tablets— whether on the construction site, in the office, or during client meetings. This mobility ensures real-time updates, quick adjustments, and instant quoting anywhere, anytime.
Future-Ready: IFC File Import and Manufacturer Integration
Looking ahead, we are developing an IFC file import functionality that will allow users to upload building models directly into the configurator. Based on the level of detail (LOD) in the IFC model, the system will intelligently:
- Auto-generate even more accurate export files
- Derive optimized bills of materials and technical documentation
- Create manufacturer-ready order files, saving time and reducing
- friction between design and production
This upgrade will further streamline workflows and ensure deeper integration with external tools and systems used by partners and manufacturers.
